My name is Richard Stewart, or better known as "Santa" for a few precious months each year. A little bit of a background on me. I have been Santa since 2012. It was a something of a fluke on how it all started. I was working in the Education Department at SeaWorld. At the time I had a goatee, which happen to be white. The gentleman that was hired to play Santa that year saw me and suggested that I should grow out my full beard. The next year I did just that and discovered not only was it naturally white, but it was also naturally curly.
That year I was able to get my first of 8 consecutive appearances as Santa at MCRD in San Diego. Also, I was able to get several appearances at a few company functions, as well as small family gatherings. As time went on, I was also able to be Santa for 3 years at SeaWorld as the only real bearded Santa that whole time. Because of that, I was able to get a following of people who would ask for me each year they came back. They also used me for promotional pics for display at SeaWorld promoting Santa at SeaWorld, as well as a video that was used in social media promtion.
Besides the 8 years I have been fortunate to be Santa, I have an extensive background with communicating and interaction with the younger generation. As mentioned, I worked at SeaWorld in the Education Department working with all ages, from preschool to high school. On top of that, I have 5 years experience as a substitute teacher, ranging in ages from 3rd grade through high school. Also woking with special needs children.
I also had the opportunity to work with a professional photographer, scheduling shoots with his clients during the holiday season. I will also give you more information about this opportunity later on in this site.
Thank you so much for taking the time to examine my site, and hope to hear from you to see how I can bring some of that spirit to those you care for.
